Logan's Status: Logan is growing on schedule. He regained the normal
weight loss that accompanies a birth within one week and has since accumulated an additional 500 grams (1.1 pounds)
bringing him up into the 8 pound range. He's still looking a bit jaundice (yellowish skin) in the chest and leg area
so we're trying to give him a bit more sunlight over the entire body. The last couple of days Logan has had
nights of exceptionally diverse moaning and groaning and squeeks and eeks to add to a dollop of consistent flatulence.
We're adjusting our diet to remove some of the spicier items in hopes that this is the cause. The self-made noises upsets
Logan which then upsets us and leaves everyone with a most unpleasant night. Otherwise, Logan is being somewhat
of an angel most of the time and we've been fortunate thus far in that he's been perfectly quiet (asleep) every time we've
taken him out to various functions/events/meals, etc...
Mom's Status: Liesl is a trooper and is doing exceptionally well.
Other than lack of sleep and the expected occasional hormone drop/kick, Liesl has had only one unexpected problem. Last
week Liesl had a sudden onset of hives throughout most of her body which was extremely uncomfortable and itchy for
her. However, after taking a miniscule 1/2 pill of an anti-histamine, it cleared up and she's all right. We believe
we have pin-pointed the hive source to be that of the 'Johnson & Johnson soap free baby bath' product we've been
using for Logan. This is because Liesl got really bad with hives after she took a bath and then she stayed
in to give Logan one. Anyway, since then we've been told that while the product is recommended for baby baths,
it has caused this problem a number of times on babies (and obviously parents as well). Liesl's scars
are continuing to heal up nicely and her vertical scar from the botched laparoscopy a couple of years ago is MUCH better now
than it ever had been before.
