Logan's 12 Month Update:

It's been several months now since we last updated the website.  That's because as many of you know, we spent 8 weeks visiting friends and family in the U.S. What a GREAT trip! In all, we spent time visiting friends and relatives in nine states and drove through four others (and flew over how many?!!). Logan is a well-traveled baby & has reached platinum status in American Airlines' frequent flyer program!

Logan hit a number of milestones while we were away.  At each place we visited he learned something new:
Grandma & Grandpa's House (John & Helen) June 29 - July 7: Logan was an avid crawler & cruiser.  He walked with help.  He learned to crawl up stairs.

Grams & Grampy's House (Nita & Allan) July 11 - July 16: Logan took a few steps on his own for the first time.

Cynthia & Tom's House Aug. 2-9: Logan started to use push toys.  He'd stand behind them and push them along.

Plane flight from L.A. to Sydney Aug. 11/13: Logan's 9th tooth popped through.

Logan's Birthday: He started to try to run--took a few quick steps and then would fall on his bum.

Logan has just a few words in his vocabulary (the translation is in parentheses) -- dada (generally Dad but sometimes Mom), dadn (Mom/person), uh-oh, wow, daw (dog), baw (ball).  He also mimics coughs and throat clearing as well as car sounds (brrrooom, broooomm).

Logan now weighs 21lbs and is 74.5 centimeters tall. He's in the 25th percentile for both height and weight (meaning that 75% of kids his age are taller and heavier). He had a new round of immunization shots on August 18th including his MMR.

Every meal is an adventure!  Logan is eating most any foods (in little bite sized portions).  Cheerios is still the number one breakfast food.  He also has a strong liking for pizza!  He doesn't like baby food much any more and demonstrates that by spewing it out.  The good thing is that he seems to like vegetables (especially broccoli and cauliflower) and meat (chicken, ground beef).  He's not yet mastered the spoon, though since we got back he's started to learn.  He can now get the spoon in his mouth -- often with something still on it!

We'll be weaning in the next month -- a hard thing for both Mom and Bub.  Wish us luck!

Since we arrived home, Logan has had a lot of fun rediscovering his toys.  He loves putting things in and taking things out.  He has a number of shape sorters and is beginning to do those on his own.  Logan also discovered that toys (remote controls) can be dropped INTO the garbage can.  We need to keep an eye on that!

The following pictures were taken on his birthday, August 15th:
